Which lakes can I print?

Any lake in the fifty states that OpenStreetMap maps with a shoreline. Search for it in the studio. The contours print where the state publishes an open depth survey: Minnesota, Michigan and Connecticut today.

Why does your depth read shallower?

The state's maximum is one sounding at the very bottom; the deepest contour is a line drawn above it. We print both, the state's first, and the receipts show every lake's difference.

My lake has no survey. What prints?

The shoreline, its islands and named bays, the depth and acreage your state publishes with the page they came from, and one plain line on the sheet saying no open depth survey exists. Nothing is shaded that nobody surveyed.

Where does my pin go?

Wherever you tap the drawing. It's kept as a place on the sheet, never as a coordinate, and the print sets the name you type beside it, never an address.

Can you mark our fishing spots?

No. The print carries the lake's contours and its deep hole, and we never mark where a fish holds.

What reaches your server?

The lake's shoreline when you choose a lake whose state publishes a survey, so our server can ask the state for the depths. Everything else waits until you order: then the shoreline, your choices, your pin's place on the sheet and the words you typed.

What sizes and papers are there?

Fine art paper, a framed print in black, white, natural wood or gold, a gallery canvas, a float-framed canvas, and a digital file. Sizes run up to 40 × 60 inches, tall or wide; the studio shows every price before you order.

Who prints it, and what does shipping cost?

Prodigi or Printful, whichever gets it to you for less. Shipping is their own charge, at cost, shown before you pay.

Can I give one?

Yes. Give a Lake sells a code for an amount you choose. It pays for one print of the lake they pick and has no expiry date.

What if it arrives damaged?

Send a photo to support@painted.app within 30 days and we'll have it printed again. Shipping and returns has the rest.

Does the state or our lake association approve these prints?

No. Painted Lake isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any state agency, lake association or realtor, and no logo goes on a print. The drawing is ours, made from the open survey, and each agency appears as a credit.
